Sfunk is a Bay Area-based band that lays down some
of the thickest groove-oriented music the area has heard in ages.
Sure they're straight-up funky, but Sfunk's music often has an old-school
spin to it. Grooves from back in the day that are perfect for down-home
booty shakin' and backyard barbeque bakin'.
Drawing from influences like Jimmy Smith, Grant Green
and Herbie Hancock, many of the group's originals blend traditional,
soul-jazz influenced melodies with blistering solo sections and hip-hop
beats. Of course, Sfunk can't help but be influenced by the new school
of jazz-funksters like the Greyboy Allstars, Charlie Hunter, and Galactic.
Sfunk has been known to take some jazz-funk standards
to new levels, while their new stuff keeps people coming back time
and time again to get their groove on.
